Greek Mountain Tea, Dittany, Lavender, Peppermint
Tasting Notes - Savory, Herbaceous, Honey
This blend is the product of over a year of correspondence, plotting and planning with our Greek herbal sister, Evangelia Koutsovoulou of Daphnis and Chloe. Evangelia started Daphnis and Chloe in 2013, just before we launched Leaves and Flowers. Early on, we were aware of this special company with a commitment similar to our own: source superior herbs, seek heirloom varietals, inspire by upholding the simple and stunning beauty of medicinal plants. We're overjoyed that 10 years later we are collaborating with Evangelia on a tea. This blend highlights a handful of exquisite ingredients sourced from her native Greece.
Mountain Tea: a delicate, honey-scented herb that flourishes on high-altitude rocky slopes. This gorgeous plant is a traditional tea in Greece, indispensable in every house.
Dittany: one of Greece's most unique native plants with a sharp herbaceous flavor and savory nuance reminiscent of Italian bitters. In the wild, it grows exclusively as a rock-dweller and is notoriously difficult to collect. Folklore says that one had to have the fervor of true love to climb and gather its shoots.
Lavender: Since ancient times, Lavender is associated with cleanliness and purity, both physically and spiritually. This Lavender is wild-harvested from the island of Crete.
Peppermint: To instill a bit of our own energy into the blend, we chose to add California Peppermint. Its presence and flavor softens and sweetens the heart.
