We discovered Country Friend Farm while on a tea sourcing trip to Japan in 2019. Located on Shikoku Island, this women-owned farm sits deep in the forest, surrounded by pristine mountain rivers and rugged nature. The tea produced by this farm is unlike any we have tasted from Japan. The farm produces both cultivated and wild tea and processes the tea by roasting or baking vs steaming, which is customary in Japan. Sleeping Dragon is a green tea that grows naturally in wild groves. After the leaves are picked, they are roasted carefully to heighten the aroma. The tea master says that she feels the energy of a dragon come into her body when drinking this tea. Though delicate with little astringency, this tea has a strong life force and will give you pure energy.
