We discovered Country Friend Farm while on a tea sourcing trip to Japan in 2019. Located on Shikoku Island, this women-owned farm sits deep in the forest, surrounded by pristine mountain rivers and rugged nature. The tea produced by this farm is unlike any we have tasted from Japan. The farm produces both cultivated and wild tea and processes the tea by roasting or baking vs steaming, which is customary in Japan. Wild Orchid is a wild green tea that is harvested from thickets in the woods. The leaves are hand plucked, then slightly withered in large bamboo baskets overnight which oxidizes the tea slowly. The next day the leaves are pan-fired. The flavor of this tea is enhanced by the slight fermentation and roasting. We hope you enjoy this special and rare green tea, aromatic and floral with a velvety mouthfeel, similar to a green oolong.
